After visiting the Active Healing Center and beginning a 30 day rehabilitation program, a patient was able to significantly decrease central disc herniation of the neck as well as compression in the spinal cord.
This patient was diagnosed with a medium-sized central and right-sided disc herniation in his neck since 2006. Between 2006 and 2008 the herniation increased in size, causing mild compression of the spinal cord. These injuries caused the patient to experience severe dizziness, lightheadedness and moderate neck pain. These symptoms significantly affected the patient's life to the point where he was unable to walk, work or maintain a social life. Walking a short distance caused severe dizziness, resulting in multiple trips to the emergency room.
Between 2008 and 2010, he visited neurologists, orthopedics, pain management specialists and tried multiple bouts with physical therapy and chiropractic. There were no signs of progress, even after multiple attempts had been made to manage the problem. At this point, the patient decided to visit Dr. Tom Gustafson at the Active Healing Center in Colts Neck, NJ. To add to the difficulties of the situation, he was traveling from his home location in New York City.
The patient entered the Active Healing Center in January 2010. After a thorough physical evaluation and x-ray analysis it was determined where the breakdown in spinal function was occurring. After 31 visits spanning from January-June 2010, MRI reports have proven that significant progress has been made. There has been a moderate decrease in the size of central disc herniation in his neck as well as decreased compression in his spinal cord. The patient still experiences mild dizziness and neck pain and continues his rehabilitation at a specific facility in New York. His illness no longer affects his ability to walk, work or socialize.
