Ramba to spud Akatara-1 well in Lemang Block in August

The Akatara-1 exploration well is targeted to spud down in August 2011. Drilling is expected to take approximately 30 days with testing to take an additional 14 days. The total budget for Akatara-1 is US$10 million.

An independent evaluation of prospective resources estimates at Akatara is being undertaken by Texas-based DeGolyer & MacNaughton aston martin newsmatic.com/category/dodge">dodge , and is expected to be completed in April this year.  According to their preliminary indication dated 14 March 2011, the preliminary potentially recoverable gross mean prospective resources not adjusted for the probability of geologic success (Pg) is estimated at 147.2 million barrels of oil. The 4 closures at Akatara represent an area between 23 and 35 square kilometres. The Lemang block, located in the Jambi sub-bas acura in of Sumatra, Indonesia, covers an area of 3,890 square kilometres. Ramba has a 41 per cent interest in Lemang.

CEO David Aditya Soeryadjaya commented, "We are very bullish on the Akatara prospect given the preliminary results received thus far and its near proximity to other discoveries. A Pg adjusted gross mean prospective resources estimate of 37.4 million barrels for one prospect is quite significant and could be a game changer for Ramba, especially considering that the block has altogether 6 ready to drill prospects and 21 leads."

A total of 4 exploration wells, 500 km of 2D seismic, and 500 square-km of 3D seismic are to be delivered under the Lemang PSC, which is currently valid until 2037. The Lemang Block is bounded in the south by the PetroChina Jabung block, which produces 135 mmscfd (Upstream Online, 13 October 2009) and 58,000 bopd (The Jakarta Post, 3 May 2010). In October 2009, Ramba entered into a Technical Assistance Agreement with PetroChina Jabung, the operator of the Jabung block and subsidiary of China's largest integrated oil and gas company, PetroChina, to tap existing infrastructure and technical expertise at the similar proximate concession.

A New Idea in Tire Industry - Recycling of Waste Tires

PRLog (Press Release) – Mar 22, 2011 – www.cri-report.com - Guidelines on Comprehensive Utilization of Waste Tires indicates that in 2015, the annual output of recycled rubber products in China will reach 3 million tons, and that of rubber powder 1 million tons. Besides, about 10 well-known enterprises engaged in comprehensive utilization of waste tires will be fostered then. Meanwhile, the retreading level of domestic waste tires will be increased greatly: the retreading rate of truck tires will be increased to 25%, that of giant engineering tires will be increased to 30%, and that of tires for passenger cars will break through zero. The processing and environmental protection pass rate of waste tire resources will reach 80%. In terms of comprehensive utilization of waste tires, China has initially formed such four major business segments as retreading and re-manufacture of waste tires, production of recycled rubber with waste tires, production of rubber powder and pyrolysis.

At present, there are about 1,000 tire retreading enterprises in China. In 2009, the output of retreaded tires in China was only 1,300, and China's retreading rate was less than 5%. However, the retreading rates in developed countries were above 45%. The output of reclaimed rubber was approximately 2.70 million tons and that of rubber powder was about 200,000 tons. The retreading rate, recycling rate and utilization rate of waste tires are all at a low level. The development of China's tire retreading industry is far from being adaptable for the requirement of severe resource environment situation currently.

There are four problems confronting the development of comprehensive utilization of waste tires: First, the enterprises engaged in comprehensive utilization of waste tires are almost small in scale, backward in equipment and poor in comprehensive strength. In particular, the problem of secondary pollution in enterprises producing recycled rubber has not been solved yet; second, the industry management is relatively weak. A well-operated recycling system has not been established yet. It is rather difficult for the enterprises with relatively high level of technology to gain waste tire resources required in the production; third, the product technology and quality standards are inadequate, leading to uneven product quality and affecting market development; fourth, there is generally a lack of technical R&D means and strength as well as hi-tech innovation capacity.

Tire retreading pertains to waste recycling, which is consistent with the concept of green energy-saving in China and worthy of strong support and encouragement. As China gradually enters the automobile aftermarket era, the demand for tires in China will see a further growth. Vigorous promotion of  comprehensive utilization of waste tires and development of recycling economy of the rubber industry can not only alleviate the situation of rubber resource shortage in China and reduce the dependence on imported rubber resources, but also promote energy-saving and emission-reduction in the rubber industry in China.

$20,000 Sempra Energy Foundation Grant to Catalyze Local Climate Change Program

PRLog (Press Release)– Mar 21, 2011– Sempra Energy Foundation has awarded a $20,000 grant to Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek to support an urban forestry chrysler and conservation program to combat climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Initiated by Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek, th dodge e Chollas Creek Climate Change Ambassadors collaborative will involve residents and students in southeast San Diego.

The collaborative program intends to achieve measurable energy and water savings in the community, introduce energy awareness lesson plans and service-learning activities in selected schools, kick off new a new middle school environmental after- school program, improve shade tree coverage, and increase community outreach. Participants include more than 200 fourth- to eighth-graders from several area schools and nonprofit organizations.

The Foundation's generous $20,000 grant will be used for classroom instruction, project management and coordination, trees and supplies. Students will use the resources to plant trees at schools and neighborhoods. In addition to their physical efforts, participants will gain knowledge on the relationship between greenhouse gas emissions and urban forestry, home energy and water use, and food packaging and recycling.

The grant money will also support the following upcoming events: 1. On March 26, Cesar Chavez Service Clubs will engage students in a variety of tree-planting and garden construction projects. 2. On April 30, Groundwork San Diego will host a community light bulb exchange and creek program at the Southcrest Recreation Center.

The Chollas Creek Climate Change Ambassadors is a collaborative e ferrari ffort of Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek, Cesar Chavez Service Clubs and Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, which are prominent environmental educators in San Diego.
