PRLog (Press Release) – Apr 01, 2011 – Junior Achievement of the Heartland recently held its annual Bowl-A-Thon at Cherry Lanes in Dubuque, IA. The event was sponsored by the Diamond Jo Casino. Matt Bo first drive audi a6 oth from Elite Entertainment provided music and entertainment for the event and Lange Sign, of East Dubuque, IL, provided the signage. Local businesses, organizations and individuals had the opportunity to sponsor a lane and participate in the event. Participating teams were made up of 5 team members with a $300.00 pledge goal. The 2011 Bowl-A-Thon raised $18,000.00 and counting, with pledges still being submitted.
Bird Chevrolet, located in Dubuque, IA sponsored a lane and participated in the event. Bird also donated merchandise for the raffle and raised $549.00, earning the award for biggest fundraiser that day. Kim Stedwell, Cashier and Administrative Assistant at Bird Chevrolet, was in charge of forming a team and raising pledges for the event. Kim said, "The bowl-a-thon was really fun and I enjoyed the opportunity to be so involved in helping to make it a success".
Chad Huntington, Vice President of Human Resources at A.Y. McDonald, also serves as the Executive Committee Member/Special Events Chair of Junior Achievement of the Heartland. Huntington appreciates Bird Chevrolet and its employees for their hard work and financial support. Huntington stated "Junior Achievement's success is directly tied to our generous donors and supporters. The funding that JA receives allows us to offer our in-school programs. The more funding that we have the more classrooms we can bring JA programs into".

Huntington, himself a volunteer, encourages businesses and people within the community to participate in future Junior Achievement fundraisers such as the annual Tri-State Golf Classic on September 1, 2011 and to sponsor a team in the Junior Achievement Titan Competition. "I think it all starts with volunteering" Huntington says, "We have a great curriculum for in-class programs and if community members volunteered to teach a class, they would see firsthand the tremendous impact that JA has on students".
